İtalya’ya uzanan bir Erasmus+ yolculuğundan döndük
talya’ya uzanan bir Erasmus+ yolculuğundan döndük, ama kalbimiz orada kaldı diyebiliriz! Çamlık Hacıbağ Ortaokulu olarak katıldığımız Erasmus+ projesi sayesinde, 11-17 Mayıs tarihleri arasında öğrencilerimizle birlikte İtalya’nın Terni şehrindeydik. Bu bizim için sadece bir yurtdışı gezisi değil, aynı zamanda kültürler arası dostlukların kurulduğu, yeni şeyler öğrendiğimiz ve unutulmaz anılarla döndüğümüz bir haftaydı.
Üç kız ve iki erkek öğrencimizle çıktığımız bu yolculuk, pek çoğunun hayatında ilk kez uçağa bindiği, başka bir ülkede yepyeni insanlarla tanıştığı, kendi sınırlarını aştığı bir deneyim oldu. İlk gün biraz heyecanlıydık elbette ama Terni’ye ayak bastığımız andan itibaren bu heyecan yerini meraka, neşeye ve paylaşıma bıraktı.
Ev sahibi okul olan Leonardo da Vinci Orazio Nucula Ortaokulu’nda çok sıcak karşılandık. İtalyan öğretmenler ve öğrenciler bizi büyük bir ilgiyle karşıladı. Derslere girdik, birlikte oyunlar oynadık, projelerimizi anlattık, İngilizce pratik yaptık. En çok da İngilizce dersindeki “jigsaw” (yapboz) tekniğiyle yapılan grup çalışması çocukların ilgisini çekti. Kendi okulumuzdaki yöntemlerle karşılaştırma yaptık, eğitim sistemlerine dair farkları gözlemledik. Öğrencilerimiz hem aktif katıldılar hem de kendilerine güven duymaya başladılar. Her sabah “bugün ne yapacağız öğretmenim?” sorusuyla uyanmaları bizim için günün en tatlı anıydı. Doğa yürüyüşünde Piediluco Gölü’nün huzurlu manzarası eşliğinde çevre bilincine dair sohbetler ettik. Tüm bu anlar, hem "Blue School" hem de "Water Wise Explorers" projemizle birebir örtüşüyordu. Öğrencilerimiz doğayla iç içe olup su kaynaklarının korunmasına dair farkındalık kazandılar.
Ve tabii ki, Roma! Bu geziyi Roma’ya uğramadan bitirmek olmazdı. Roma’da geçirdiğimiz bir gün, adeta rüya gibiydi. Kolezyum’u gördük, Trevi Çeşmesi’ne bozuk para atıp dilek diledik, sokaklarında kaybolduk. Öğrencilerimizin gözlerinde o anların ışıltısını görmek tarif edilemezdi. Daha önce fotoğraflarda gördükleri yerleri birebir görmek, onları çok etkiledi. “Gerçekten buradayım öğretmenim!” diyen her öğrencimizle birlikte biz de büyülendik. Bu bir haftalık Erasmus serüveni, bizlere yalnızca farklı bir ülkeyi tanıma şansı vermedi; aynı zamanda öğrencilerimizin kendi potansiyellerini fark etmesini sağladı. Küçük bir köy okulundan çıkan çocuklar, Avrupa’da kendilerini ifade etti, başka kültürlerle tanıştı, dünya vatandaşı olma yolunda ilk adımlarını attı. Dönüş yolunda hepsi “yeniden gidelim” diyordu, biz de tebessümle “neden olmasın?” dedik. Bu güzel yolculuğun izlerini taşıyan kareleri aşağıda sizlerle paylaşıyoruz. We’ve returned from a journey that took us all the way to Italy through the Erasmus+ program—but we can honestly say that a part of our hearts stayed there! Thanks to the Erasmus+ project, we, as Çamlık Hacıbağ Middle School, were in the beautiful city of Terni, Italy from May 11th to 17th. This was far more than just an international trip—it was a week full of learning, cultural exchange, and unforgettable memories.
We embarked on this adventure with three girls and two boys—most of whom were flying for the first time, meeting people from another country for the first time, and stepping far outside their comfort zones. Of course, we were a bit nervous on the first day, but the moment we set foot in Terni, that nervousness turned into excitement, curiosity, and joy.
We received a warm welcome from our host school, Leonardo da Vinci Orazio Nucula Middle School. The Italian teachers and students greeted us with great interest. We attended classes, played games together, shared our projects, and practiced English. What especially caught our students’ attention was the group activity in the English class using the “jigsaw” technique. We also compared teaching methods and observed the differences between the education systems. Our students actively participated and began to build their self-confidence. Every morning started with the sweetest question: “What are we doing today, teacher?”
During our nature walk around Lake Piediluco, we talked about environmental awareness while enjoying the peaceful scenery. These moments aligned perfectly with our "Blue School" and "Water Wise Explorers" projects. Our students connected with nature and gained valuable insights into the importance of protecting water resources.
And of course—Rome! No trip to Italy would be complete without a visit to the Eternal City. Our day in Rome felt like a dream. We saw the Colosseum, tossed coins into the Trevi Fountain while making wishes, and wandered through the charming streets. Watching the sparkle in our students’ eyes was priceless. Seeing places they had only known from pictures made a deep impression on them. One student said, “I can’t believe I’m really here, teacher!” and that moment truly touched us all.
This week-long Erasmus adventure didn’t just allow us to experience another country—it helped our students discover their own potential. These children, from a small village school, spoke up for themselves in Europe, built friendships with students from another culture, and took their first steps toward becoming global citizens. On the way back, they all said, “Let’s go again!”—and we smiled and replied, “Why not?”
